For Sale:  All Nation Power Truck Transmission Drive Shaft Spacer Bushings PN#4040

Perhaps the most requested item we get asked for are the All Nation Power Truck Transmissions and parts. Known the world over to be a bullet proof drive, excellent performance and long life, we now have available precisely machined bushings for the drive shafts in these mechanisms made in the USA. #4040 is the most crucial part in the drive’s mechanical function for the transmission of power from the motor to the wheels.

If your older diesel engines are having operation issues from many years of use such as noisy gears, gears that are binding or even locked up, the most likely cause is the wear on these bushing. On the tower drives, the lower drive helical gear facing bushing takes most of the wear and tear. If the drive shaft has slop or movement, that could be the primary reason for mechanical issues and operating problems. Simply changing these out will make your transmission new again with the proper adjustment of the thrust washers if needed for fine tuning the mechanism.

These spacer bushings are machined to our original specifications and do they ever have close tolerances as it should be. Your old steel drive shafts should work fine with these new bushings. Installing new drive shafts with these close tolerances, the inside diameter of the bushing will require some physical breaking in at first and of course lubricating. However, that is exactly what I would expect because modelers have mentioned that these drives with helical gears are not quiet runners primarily on well worn out transmissions. If your gears are locked up for example on the worm and axle, do not force it to turn over because the steel will damage the brass gear in this case, and that may also be the case for the bottom brass helix gear as well.

If your All Nation transmission is a chain drive instead of the helix gear implementation, bushings that need to be replaced can give much trouble to the point where one begins to blame the chain and sprockets. But if your sprockets are not aligned perfectly or there is vertical play in the drive shafts, the chain can come apart or the torque can cause it to break. And no matter how many times you fix the chain it will continue to happen until you put the engine in the shop and make the repair.

For instructions on how to repair your models transmission, see our tower kits or small gear units and videos. The spacers can be drilled and tapped for either 2-56 or 3-48 machine screws and reassembled with a lock washer.

Buy a set of these and you can look at getting another 20 years of operation from your All Nation drives.
