For Sale: I have a number of non-powered A and B F Units on the layout and procrastinated for a long time about making them powered. Because, it was a significant pain to gather parts and assemble the works for a operable installation. I can no longer use that excuse after developing the platform to house the motor and make it a simple drop in place installation. Having a number of Pittman motors on hand, specifically the type 9432G742 12 VDC and typically 40mm in diameter, we print a single piece part that has the power truck mounts, fuel tank and motor brackets all in one. It is a simple matter of dropping the motor between the brackets and mount it with 8 6-32 x 3/8″ machine screws. Some motors are single shaft and others are double shaft. In any event, these motors are old/new stock and more than enough power for moving heavy locomotives and freight trains.
The motor is situated such that the armature closely aligns with our tower transmission drive shafts easily connected with universal joints. Thus, the motor is partially contained inside the fuel tank shell. This kit comes with a motor, 8 4-40 x 1/4″ flat head screws, 8 6-32 x 3/8″ screws and may or may not have a drive shaft ball connection on one end. The modeler will have to drill the clearance hole for the king pins. The power truck platforms can accommodate LED lights for the engine steps if that detail is so desired.
