Description

For Sale: #13084 New Product Line Series of Shell Kits are for the beginner model railroader. Basic body parts are supplied in this kit at an affordable price for the modeler that wants to step into O Scale 2 Rail. This is the 3rd shell kit introduced, the Ortner 100 Ton Hopper for hauling aggregate, sold kit less trucks and couplers. Easy 3 piece shell assembly, modeler will have to supply all the detail parts. The limited parts list for this kit include the following:

1 body superstructure, 3D Printed ABS Plastic
2 underbody frames, 3D Printed ABS
6 Hopper Floor with rapid discharge doors, 3D Printed ABS
6 Hopper door scraper bars, 3D Printed ABS

The red 100 ton hopper in the photo is not a part of this sale. It is my reference model and is shown here for illustration and comparison purposes only.

The 2 piece underbody frames mount to the body superstructure with either glue or if desired drill and tap for 1-72 hex machine screws. The hopper floor shells can also be glued after mounting the underbody frame.

The reference model utilized to create the 3D printed version of this kit was my brass scratch built model and is the early prototype used by the Florida East Coast. Several other roads including GRR, Algoma Central, Wisconsin Central, CSX to name a few acquired these open hopper cars for transporting aggregate and most often were unit trains. Coupling a string of these together makes for a rather impressive train with those extended platforms on each end of the car.

Sold as is straight off the Prusa Printer built plate, all sales final no returns. Some parts clean up may be required before starting the assembly.

We hope you enjoy putting together and running this new product on your layout. Our last suggestion is to save these photos for your reference purposes during the build. Last suggestion is to do a little research on the prototype to become familiar with the hardware and detail on the car.
