For Sale: The All Nation Welded 8,000 gallon Tank Car Kit Less Trucks Part #7701
(Note: some of the photos have the riveted tank car as example only. This kit includes the welded body.)
We are releasing a limited number of the welded and riveted versions of the 8,000 gallon Tank Car manufactured for the railroads by American Car & Foundry. This is a brass kit (tank shell, dome, dome lid, safety valve, ladder) with soft metal castings from old/new stock. A certain level of skill is needed to build this kit and may not be ideal for the beginner model railroader.
We include prototype photos and some from our archives to illustrate those found on the railroads and used for differing applications of cargo. Trucks are not included. These series of type 27 tank cars were available in 6,000, 8,000 and 10,000 gallon versions. Consequently, from this basic kit the modeler can make modifications and decal lettering to achieve the same characteristics found on the road one is trying to model as it was put to use earning revenue for the company. It should be noted these are period cars based on the beginning and ending years in which AC&F manufactured these particular pieces of rolling stock. Therefore, might not be found on more modern model railroad layouts. However, you own the layout and can take any liberty to show off your work.
