Our recent release of the NYC “Riders” Car<\/a> has striking similarities to this rather unique C&NW Drovers Car.\u00a0 In the interest of introducing new modelers to the world of building kits, these cars, used in the transport of the livestock business, are probably the easiest to put together because the core superstructures of neither the NYC or C&NW require a cupola. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

For a wood sheathed superstructure and a steel underframe, the C&NW car numbers were 10800 – 10878 and when reconditioned had assigned new car numbers from 12600 – 12798. The specific prototype information can be found at the Mid-Continent Railway Museum in North Freedom, WI. Another prototype is also owned by the Black Hills Central RR, number 10800.\u00a0 Number 10802 in North Freedom, WI, based on the blue prints, was reconditioned in 1937 titled STOCK DROVER’S CAR, C.& N.W. RY. CHICAGO OCT. 18, 1937.<\/span><\/p>\n

If your model railroad is transporting livestock, ranchers and farmers often rode with their animals to market to feed & water as required by regulations. Plus, they wanted to be paid when their livestock sold.<\/span><\/p>\n

Assembling these kits is rather intuitive as some of our videos illustrate.\u00a0 (Consider watching the NYC Video- click here<\/a>) We leave it up to the modeler to customize this kit with super detailing, trucks, couplers, paint and decals. Purchasing the basic kit makes it easier to afford. Once the kit is built, detail parts can be sourced for completing the project. In the meantime, we encourage the modeler to do as much research as possible to learn about the Drover Car and view old photos or drawings before starting the kit as it will help with your vision of the final result. We also encourage free lance model building. Customizing to your own private road is great for the imagination and no one can say your modeling is not correct if it came out of your own shops.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sold as is straight off the Prusa Printer build plate and some build clean up on the parts may be required. Parts may be printed (in ABS or PLA) and shipped in various colors unless otherwise specified by the customer.\u00a0 PLA is not dishwasher safe and may deform in a hot automobile in the summer time as it has a relatively low glass-transition temperature between 50 and 80 \u00b0C<\/b> and a melting temperature between 170 and 180 \u00b0C<\/b><\/span><\/span>.<\/span>
