O Scale Passenger car kits of the wood variety from All Nation Line and Walthers offered the opportunity to finish out a kit with a removable roof to display the interior of the car. U750 kit serves the same purpose. 2 of these kits are usually installed toward each ends of the car.
Parts Lists:
1 wood screw
1 6-32 threaded rod approximately 3″ long
1 brass mounting plate with center clearance hole and off set 6-32 threaded for rod adjustment approximately 2 1/4″ to bridge across the width of the underside of the roof
2 6-32 nuts
2 wire connectors
Installation allows for adjusting the depth and for fixing the roof to the car body using the rod instead of a fix length bolt. The nuts secure the wire connector because current from the trucks can travel through for interior lighting. Typically, these kits had wood floors so the bottom nut can be recessed is so desired.
