For Sale:  All Nation Chicago & North Western WayCar Beginners KIT PN#413ANK

Kits really do help model building! If you are of the nature a creative fabricator and not just a slavish assembler, then the beginner’s kit is a great stepping stone toward becoming a master. In fact, we feel that kit assembly creates more model builders by providing a sort of apprenticeship. Didn’t kits teach us the little mechanical mysteries of how a model engine or car is put together?

And didn’t the first construction adventures for most of us occur when we made revisions or additions to our kits, and didn’t the skill we thus obtained encourage us to push on to more ambitious projects – complete models?

No, kits do not hurt model building – they help it. That is why we are working to bring out unique kits like the C&NW Waycar model. It is easy and very intuitive and as you may see in many of our short videos, there is always more then one way to skin the cat in building a kit. Basic work such as cleaning parts before hand and simply getting good at gluing up pieces that should be square are fundamental and beyond that is where the fun comes in when it comes time to do the detail work.

While our reference model (NOT included in sale) in the photos show the lettering as 3D printed for illustration purposes, a decal is more appropriate so consequently the sides are printed plain. The window frames are somewhat unique because they need to be fitted and pressed into the openings from the back side, not the front on this model. Once fitted, they should be removed and the acetate for the glass can be inserted. However, the modeler may want to be thinking ahead about this procedure and what about the painting to be done at some point. Once the acetate is fitted in the slot in the frame, it should be cut so as not to interfere with frame insertion into the car side, thus it can be long but trimmed after sliding it into the frame. The cross-hair pane divider can then be pressed into the frame onto the glass from the front side of the frame. Doing this procedure will give a very clean look to the window applications on the model.

We hope you derive much enjoyment with this addition to your layout. If you have any questions, feel free to email us for suggestions.
