Description

For Sale: 1 Caboose/Waycar Roof 3D printed to replace the original wooden roofs that were sold with the CB&Q Kit #3612 years ago. As part of my re-engineering effort to facilitate a more accurate representation of the railroad prototype, this roof will also work for the same kit components that we sell for a C&NW Waycar simply by using the correct car sides. These photos are very close up shots.

In order to help you decide with your purchase, please view my video on my website allnationline.com for a discussion about a little background and instructions on how I have gone about to build this kit.

What comes with this kit you ask? In addition to the main roof component that will likely require the modeler to do some clean up work, removing the build plate brim and support structure material from the ends and sides, I am including FLEX sheets for the final layer to laminate onto the top of the roof for more realism as a sheathing or tar paper cover over what would have been the wooden planks. These will need to be trimmed or cut to size. The cupola, stack, vent, brass wire, turn buckles and ladders are not included with this kit component. I do include the long and short roof walks and the long eve trim that goes on the car after mounting the car sides to the body frame.

Now the modeler may want to take some liberty to modify the component. For example, the underside of the roof at both ends, one could use a little bondo and sand it smooth or use the simulated wood skins provided and glue them on to cover the printer line work.

From my archives, I have the original CB&Q Railroad Blueprints from the engineering department available for sale on DVD if the modelers wants the perfect reference for building in all the detail including interiors.

Glue! Please reference a good article from Prusa Research:

Although, I still like Walthers Goo for certain applications.

Sold as is straight off the Prusa Printer built plate, all sales final no returns. PLA is not dishwasher safe and may deform in a hot automobile in the summer time as it has a relatively low glass-transition temperature.
