The spur gear pan is a new part housing for the spur gears on the power truck transmissions that clip on to either a tower drive component or the small gear unit. This was developed to accomplish 2 things. First, protecting the spur gear in this manner helps reduce any noise emanating from the the worm/gear operation. Second, it serves as an oil lubrication reservoir for both gears and keeps the gears cleaner over time. Gears, bearings and bushings need lubrication and periodic maintenance. This simply clips over the axle bushings to stay in place and the modeler should note that there is still plenty of clearance above rail heads.
