For Sale:  O Scale Metal-Sided Windsplitter Interurban Beginners Kit of O Scale Traction Modelers 3D Printed PN#10K

For Sale: O Scale Windsplitter Interurban body only kit. The provenance of this model and appropriate attribution goes to Gary Reighn (www.reighn.com/3dprint.html for developing the files for 3D Printing in O Scale. His files are available for download and printing on your own printer. The files for the Windsplitter Interurban are available at Cults3d for a nominal charge. With his permission, the design is licensed under a Creative Commons (4.0 International License) Attribution-ShareAlike

As per the license, no additional creative enhancements have been done to these 3D Print components by All Nation and therefore, there is nothing to contribute back to the Open Source community. However, modelers are free to make changes or enhancements to their building out the kit.
All Nation Line makes these parts available for modelers not into 3D Printing. We are all about introducing new modelers to the hobby with a low cost easy to assemble kit that helps entry level kit builders improve their skills. Their effort is rewarded with a very nice looking historical traction model that can be made to operate on trolley layouts or modular trackage. The key to assembly is keeping all parts square when gluing up the components and clamping until the glue sets. Most glue joint line work is not visible if done right. If there are any slight gaps, use Loctite Extreme Glue to fill in the cracks/seams and then sand smooth. The Loctite has some body to it like a Bondo. CA glue can also be used but not for filing in any gaps unless it is a gel type. The body is printed using PLA plastic of various colors. The roof pieces must be matched up, typically the center of the roof is glued end to end and then the side pieces added thereafter.
The kit does not provide for under body detail, trucks or additional detail parts. We do include the front pilot made from the rubbery TPU filament which looks good and is very forgiving if the model bumps into other cars on the layout due to its flex back capability. Some part colors may vary than what is seen in the photos. The floor is printed with ABS filament while all other parts are printed using PLA filaments.
Unlike the detail in the Wood Windsplitter PN#9K, this metal version has such tiny rivets, the rivets do not print as well on FDM machines. Thus, we would suggest if you would desire this level of detail and resolution to be printed, download the files and use a resin printer.
Sold as is straight off the Prusa Printer built plate, all sales final no returns. PLA is not dishwasher safe and may deform in a hot automobile in the summer time as it has a relatively low glass-transition temperature between 50 and 80 °C and a melting temperature between 170 and 180 °C
As per comments by Gary Reighns the kit is scaled to produce an O scale (1:48) model of a metal sided interurban car known as a Windsplitter due to its unique pointed front end. These cars were built by the G.C. Kuhlman car company in 1912. Trucks and other interior and underbody detail can be provided by the Q-Car Co.
We think this approach is a Win Win both for the beginning modeler and the designer to encourage more great work like in our O Scale community.
