For Sale: Diesel Locomotive Stanchion Brass Scratch Build Raw Material 2-11/16″ Long x 0.01″ Thickness with Blunt End (12/Pack) PN#400
Brass shapes sometimes aid in scratch building models. As a hobbyist moves from Ready To Run models, to buildings kits and finally using skills to do scratch building, we encourage participating in the Art of Free-Lance model building. If we were to tell you where this part could be used, it might restrict the imagination. Brass is a nice media to work and can be artfully soldered in application to get just the right visual effect.
These brass pieces in this case, I have utilized as stanchions for hand rails on some of my diesel engines. They are a formed single end and trimmed to length. The ends can be wrapped around the hand rail or even spot soldered to the brass hand rail for stability. Pictured is a locomotive with stanchions of similar style.
