Description

For Sale: Years ago we were distributors for many manufacturers. One of the most popular easy to assemble Railroad Station Kits was the Country Station made by Arvid L. Anderson from Frederic, Wisconsin exclusively for the All-Nation Hobby Shop.

From our archives and reference model, we are re-introducing this kit using some state of the art technology. Our original kit was a combination of embossed swarthboard, paper, wood, materials available at the time such as roofing material of card stock embossed to represent shingles. A typical country station consisted of a passenger waiting room, station agent office quarters and a baggage/freight room. Often times the railroad station was the center of a small town where mail/freight was picked up and dropped off or milk was shipped out to the larger cities.

The improvements have included a remodeling of the dimensions in CAD software to enable us to 3D print each part with precision and keep the cost affordable for the beginner model railroader that wants to get a taste of O Scale 2 Rail structures for their pike. Included in this kit is a copy of the original instructions as a guide to assemble this model. We would not dictate how to go about assembling this kit because there is opportunity to innovate so that it is a customized model to fit the theme of your pike and eventual placement. We do not include super detail parts, signage, paint or decals. It is up to the individual modeler as to how far to finish out the details. We have added a couple of printed interior walls for a ticket window and a door to the baggage room. The approximate foot print of space this model will require on your layout is 15″  x  7 1/2″.    The Country Stations across the land were the most common functional buildings for conducting business in rural America.

This model is printed entirely in PLA. PLA has a low melting point, is not a great material for drilling and tapping without having some experience doing so. However, with this kit the basic assembly with a tube of CA glue can take as little as 3 hours to assemble if you think it through first, have your clamping ready to go to keep things square as there is not to much fitting required. Some parts might need some thread or brim clean up around the edges but for the most part this does not take much time. One feature we have are the interior corners angles to glue up the walls. These are printed in a clear frosted PLA and translucent enough as to not be seen like the original model that used 4x4mm wooden corners to hold things together. So, if you wish to do the interior detail, these inside corner pieces will not take away from the interior look of the model.

Sold as is straight off the Prusa Printer built plate, all sales final no returns. PLA is not dishwasher safe and may deform in a hot automobile in the summer time as it has a relatively low glass-transition temperature between 50 and 80 °C and a melting temperature between 170 and 180 °C.
