Description

For Sale: All Nation F3/F7 or GP Engine Helix Gearing Tower Drive Transmission 40″ Wheels Assembled (with /without Bearings/Universal Jt CHOOSE) PN#378ANwith or 378Without

Brand new replacement tower drive transmission for F3/F7 or GP engines to run on 2 rail DC track.

Note in your order if you want a specific upper drive shaft connector. The upper drive shaft is available in 3 configurations:

(1) The original default dog bone & pin

(2) Straight shaft for the larger universal joint connection with a 4 mm ID.

(3) Straight shaft for the smaller universal joint connection with a 3 mm ID.

The above gives the modeler a wide array of choices regarding the connections to the motor shaft.

Not previously offered by AN were options for using these drives in many different applications and not just in the specific F3/F7 or Switch engines. Consequently, the photos show the longer drive shafts on either or both ends of the transmissions and can be cut to length. As an example, the shaft on the opposite side of the spline side of the small gear box may be used as the power take off for powering the truck on the other end of the engine. The modeler can cut these shafts to length or we can ship the transmissions already cut close to the end of the gear box for truck frame clearance purposes.

As shown in the photo, the end of the axles are machined to accommodate a 2.5mm ball bearing with an approximate ID of 1.87 mm. Consequently, if the drive is to replace an original All-Nation set in a Blomberg truck with the bronze spherical journal bushings, the Part Number 378AN is available at 2.34mm for the 3/32″ bushing.

Re-engineered with Poly-carbonate 4038 and 4039 gear box panels for a more quiet drive in the tower and small gear unit, respectively, with further enhancements.

In order to use this replacement product to update an existing drive mechanism in your non-All-Nation sideframes, journals must be able to take the ball bearings and clearances for the drive shafts and should be verified before purchasing this item.

Note, there are gear box covers on each axle. A highly asked for feature was the ability to totally take apart the transmissions for servicing and or fine tuning with shim washers and future maintenance. Thus, the spacer bushings on the drive shafts are tapped for 3-48 screws as opposed to the old means of mounting the side panels.

We are confident that our changes and improvements will give decades of running service in your locomotives. However, mechanisms still need periodic lubrication as most modelers know already.
